Victor Gordo prevailed in his effort to unseat incumbent Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek. Running on a platform of listening to residents, taking a careful look at development and focusing on Pasadena and its residents, Gordo outspent Tornek by a margin of 2 to 1 to win the seat by more than 5000 votes. Mr. Tornek conceded the election on Friday.

PASADENA: The city recorded seven new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday and no new deaths. The new numbers bring the city’s total cases to 2,845. The number of average new infections reported daily in the city had declined to 3.4 as of Oct. 15, according to city data. As of Saturday, it had climbed past 14 with 8 new cases reported on Halloween. Pasadena had recorded a total of 2,838 cases of COVID-19 and 129 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.

Thursday marked two weeks without a reported COVID-19-related death in Pasadena. Eight new infections were documented, although four of them were older cases that had been added to the official tally from a state backlog, according to Pasadena spokeswoman Lisa Derderian. The city’s totals stood at 2,721 known infections and 129 fatalities, according to city data. The last death in the city due to the virus was reported on Oct. 8.
