The Pasadena Public Health Department on Monday, Dec. 13, reported its first laboratory-confirmed case of a resident contracting COVID-19 with mutations consistent with the new Omicron variant.
The infected person was fully vaccinated with a booster dose and had not recently traveled internationally, city officials said. The virus was likely transmitted locally in early December.
The Los Angeles Times published its annual Best of the Southland awards.
Not surprisingly, many Pasadena Chamber members were on the list. (If you are a Pasadena Chamber member, you are among the best at what you do.)
Here are your fellow Chamber members how were voted onto the:

Two new Covid pills are on their way, and they are expected to have a significant impact on how the pandemic plays out in our lives.
The pills — one from Merck and the other from Pfizer — reduce the risk of hospitalization and death if taken early in an infection. If all goes well, the F.D.A. may authorize both of them by year’s end.
Online workshop will be presented in English and Spanish

PASADENA WEEKLY BEST OF PASADENA 2021
The first U.S. Omicron case was reported in California, the C.D.C. said today, signaling the arrival of a potentially dangerous new phase of the pandemic in the country.
The patient, who returned to the state from South Africa on Nov. 22, is in isolation, and aggressive contact tracing is underway. The individual was fully vaccinated, was not hospitalized and had mild symptoms that were improving. People in close contact with the individual have tested negative.
