Well, goodbye to all that .
Now that 2023 is drawing to a close, and it’s time that we begin to look to the new year, why don’t we spend a minute clearing our closets and minds of all the tech we don’t need? The better to start fresh, and to steel ourselves for the AI-drenched year ahead .
Founded in 1935 by Mary McLeod Bethune, an influential educator and activist, the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. expanded its reach with SGV-NCNW, chartered in La Puente, CA on June 6, 1990. Serving Southern California cities within Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, the organization started with 54 Charter Members, primarily from St. Stephen Baptist Church. Led by organizer and 1st President Dr. Dorothy Shepherd, they embarked on a journey to make a difference in San Gabriel Valley communities.
SGV-NCNW, a leading volunteer service organization, focuses on serving communities across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. Our mission is to educate, empower, and advocate for women of African descent, their families, and the communities we serve. Our impactful work centers around six key areas: Community Service, Youth Development, STEAM Education, Financial Literacy, Health and Wellness, and Civic Engagement.
Recognizing the significance of collaboration, we actively engage with community partners, including food distribution centers, local universities, leading mentoring organizations, and various civic entities. Together, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives we touch and the communities we serve.
