The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association intern graduate, Adrian Monge, stopped by to visit with Workforece Development Director Amy Foell early in the New Year.

Adrian participated in the 2016 Chamber summer internship program with member, Go Green Solutions. Go Green Solutions hosted Adrian as an intern but did much more to mentor and support him. David Wagner and William Meurer cared for Adrian like family. They were actively interested in his future and even hired Adrian and his father!

Adrian graduated from John Muir High School’s Engineering & Environmental Science Academy in the Spring of 2017,

the first person to graduate high school in his entire family. He has since enlisted in the Army and currently is stationed in Virginia. We were so happy to reconnect with this savvy, young man with the smiling eyes.

"While we cannot take credit for Adrian’s self-determination, resilience, persistence and success," Ms. Foell said, "We can at least feel good to know we were part helping Adrian consider his options after high school."

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce places more than 100 interns each summer. Each intern is trained, supervised and evaluated during their work-based learning experience. To complete their summer experience successfully, interns must fill out an application, interview with the Chamber and teir potential host companies and pass a summer school intern class at PUSD.
