The Fourth annual Million Meals Marathon Food Drive will be held on November 19-20, 2016 on the Pasadena City College campus ( Lot 1, Hill and Colorado). It has been estimated that over 1.7 million people (400,000 of them children) experience hunger in Los Angeles County making the work of food banks more critical than ever before. Hunger affects not only the people in our community but also pets that belong to individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. With little money to meet their own needs, families often find that they can no longer afford to keep their pets. To help with this growing problem of feeding pets, the Million Meals Marathon is also accepting donations of pet food for the Pasadena Humane Society Pet Food Bank.
The collection event will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19th and end on Sunday at 11:00, November 20th. Our goal is to collect over 2,000 pounds of food for local area Food Banks and enough food to stock the Humane Society Food Bank for 2-3 months.
It is our hope that the entire Pasadena community will support this effort. Here is how you can help:
- Prominently display our flyers and encourage employees, family and friends to participate.
- Volunteer your time during the event. Call the health sciences division at 626-585-3378 or 626-585-3308.
- Donate nonperishable food (human and pet) to our effort to help us meet our goal
- Donate food cards that can be used by the food banks
- Make a cash donation
We will also have the Pasadena Humane Society Pet Adoption Mobile Unit on site Saturday during the event!
We are counting on the entire Pasadena community to help make this event fun and exciting as we provide needed support to those facing uncertain times.
