The Small Business Relief Fund is a collaboration between the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, The Pasadena Community Foundation and the City of Pasadena to assist small businesses in recovering from the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis and resulting business closures. It is intended to augment federal, state and local aid in supporting Pasadena businesses and sustaining the local economy.

In March 2020, the City of Pasadena issued a Shelter-In-Place Order intended to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community. As a result, many small businesses were compelled to close their doors for up to three months, and businesses that remained open experienced a dramatic drop in revenue.
The Small Business Relief Fund will provide grants of $10,000 to storefront retail businesses. Once awarded, grant funds may be used for business-related operational costs, including COVID-19-related expenses and compliance. The fund will prioritize assisting minority and woman-owned small businesses, as well as those that have been unable to access federal and state-level COVID-19 relief programs, including the S.B.A.’s Paycheck Protection Program.
The Small Business Relief Fund has been established at the Pasadena Community Foundation, which will administer the fund and assist in developing the application and selection process in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce. The City of Pasadena has seeded the fund with an initial gift of $500,000 with the goal of assisting 50 or more small businesses, and will match all private philanthropic gifts to the fund up to $250,000. The Fund will accept donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
