This information provides a greater awareness to the Pasadena community. The critical events detailed below are merely a snapshot of the calls received by the Police Communications Center daily. Your police department strives to better serve the Pasadena community. Interim Police Chief Jason Clawson continues to adhere to the principles of the “Pasadena Way” as he leads the Police Department into its new chapter. These principles will forever have a lasting impact on all employees who serve in the organization, as we continue to police with compassion and best intentions.

On November 1, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Oak Knoll Ave. regarding a family disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted the involved parties who were all adult family members (mother, father, and daughter). Officers discovered that the daughter and mother began arguing and during the argument the daughter armed herself with a kitchen knife. The daughter threatened her mother, but before she could cause any harm, the father was able to disarm the daughter. No one was injured, and when police arrived on scene, the knife was recovered, and the suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
On November 2, 2022, a Pasadena Police traffic motor officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of St John Avenue and Walnut Street. The driver failed to yield to the officer and fled from the officer. A pursuit was initiated and spanned roughly 6 miles and lasted about 5 minutes. The pursuit concluded in the 300 block of San Rafael when the female driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a male occupant hiding inside. The officers also found a replica firearm and drug paraphernalia. The driver was discovered to be on probation and admitted to using methamphetamine. Both the male and female suspects were arrested and taken to the Pasadena Jail.
On November 7, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Ohio St. regarding a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, officers attempted to contact the involved parties. The female was cooperative; however, the male subject ran away toward his apartment. The officer gave chase and attempted to detain the subject who used force to deter the officer from performing his duty by resisting. After a brief struggle, the suspect was detained, but not until an apartment window was broken during the altercation with the officer. The officer received two lacerations, one on each arm, and was treated by first aid. The suspect was not injured and was arrested for delaying and resisting the officer’s investigation. The domestic violence incident was determined to be verbal only.
On November 12, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to a call of an assault involving a firearm in the vicinity of Old Town Pasadena. The police helicopter arrived overhead and directed officers to the suspects, one who was on foot and the other who was driving in a vehicle. The officers detained the female suspect after she ran from the scene and attempted to hide in a store while another group of officers safely extricated the male suspect from the vehicle. It was later discovered that the assault stemmed from a dispute over parking with a local store manager. The verbal argument escalated into a physical fight where the victim was bitten and scratched along the face. At some point, the male suspect retrieved a handgun from his waistband and brandished it at the victim. The suspects were booked for assault with a deadly weapon.
On November 13, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of N. Raymond Ave. regarding a male victim who had been assaulted and was bleeding from the head. The suspect had fled the location before officers arriving on scene. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim and the suspect live in bungalows across from each other. The victim stated that he got into a verbal confrontation with the suspect regarding the suspect letting homeless people charge their cell phones on the property. The verbal confrontation escalated into the suspect striking the victim on the back of the head with a 6’ PVC pipe, causing a laceration. After being hit, the victim fell to the ground and may have sustained a fractured forearm. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Assisting officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect, but detectives have assumed the investigation.
On November 14, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to a multi-use office building in the 500 block of S. Lake Ave. regarding a subject walking around with a knife. Employees from a nearby restaurant detained the suspect until police arrived because the suspect had entered a restaurant that was closed for business. When officers arrived on scene, it was discovered that the suspect had discharged a fire extinguisher inside the hallway of the building causing over $2,500 in damages and clean-up costs. Officer located the knife the suspect had in his possession but did not locate any victims he may have brandished the weapon at. The suspect was arrested for vandalism.
On November 15, 2022, Pasadena Police officers conducted an investigative pedestrian stop on a group of four subjects in the area of Navarro Ave. and Tremont St. As officers approached the group, one subject fled on foot holding his hands inside his jacket pockets. Officers chased the subject for approximately 1 block and saw as the suspect discarded an item into some bushes. The subject was detained shortly thereafter without further incident. Officers searched the bushes where the subject discarded the item and recovered a 9mm ghost gun. The suspect was arrested for weapon violations.
On November 16, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Howard St. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated spanning over 3 miles and lasting under 7 minutes. When the suspect yielded to officers, he was detained without further incident. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle officers found Fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and counterfeit U.S. currency. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail.
On November 18, 2022, Pasadena Police Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Washington Blvd. Upon contacting the driver, officers immediately smelled an odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. The driver was detained and during the search of the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded firearm and two fully loaded magazines. The driver was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
On November 14, 2022, Pasadena Police officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Navarro Ave. and Washington Blvd. Upon contacting the occupants, officers immediately smelled a marijuana odor from inside the vehicle. As the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle, the passenger (suspect) admitted to having a handgun. The handgun was recovered from the suspect's waistband without incident. The suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and booked at Pasadena jail.
On November 21, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Vineyard Pl. regarding an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who stated his brother-in-law threatened him with an airsoft handgun, struck him in the head with it, then struck him with a crowbar. After the assault, the suspect fled the location before police arrived. Officers recovered the airsoft weapon at the scene and later contacted the suspect at his home. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
On November 26, 2022, an officer from the Pasadena Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Colorado Blvd. When the officer contacted the driver, the driver indicated he had a firearm in the glove compartment. The driver was detained and during the search of the vehicle, officers recovered a firearm and a fully loaded magazine. The driver was arrested for weapon violations.
On November 28, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to Marshall Fundamental School regarding a student threatening another student via social media. The suspect threatened the victim and brandished a handgun on a social media posting. While investigating the threat, officers learned the suspect was on the campus and possibly had the firearm with him. Out of an abundance of caution, the school campus was locked down, and the suspect was quickly detained and determined not to be armed. Officers searched the campus but did not locate a weapon. After just over 1 hour, the school lockdown was lifted. The suspect in this case, had a no-bail warrant and was arrested for criminal threats.
On November 30, 2022, a Pasadena Police officer attempted to conduct an investigative pedestrian stop on a subject in the area of 3600 E. Colorado Blvd. As the officer approached the subject, he noticed the subject holding his waistband and then fleeing the area on a scooter. The officer followed him in his vehicle as the suspect rode around a building into an alleyway. While fleeing from the officer, the subject discarded a jacket that he was wearing. The officer detained the suspect without further incident and subsequently searched for the jacket the suspect discarded. Officers found the jacket and recovered a handgun in the jacket. The suspect was arrested for weapon violations.
