PASADENA POLICE - COMMUNITY BRIEF April 2022
April 1, 2022 at 9:29am: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Del Mar Bl. regarding an assault involving a BB gun. Officers contacted the victim who stated he was driving northbound on Fair Oaks Avenue near Del Mar Bl. when he became involved in a road rage incident with another motorist. During the incident, the motorist produced a BB gun and fired 3-4 BBs at the victim's moving vehicle. The victim was not injured.
April 6, 2022 at 11:17am: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 600 block of N. Mentor Ave. regarding a violation of a restraining order. Officers attempted to detain the subject but he resisted and fought with officers. During the struggle the suspect bit an officer causing minor injury. The suspect was arrested for the assault and transported to the PPD jail for booking.
April 8, 2022 at 12:04am: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 2900 block of Orange Grove Bl. regarding a victim who reported she saw an unknown person exit her residence. The victim was not at the residence but was monitoring remotely using a home surveillance camera system. Officers arrived on scene and detained the suspect who was exiting the front door of the residence. The suspect was in possession of the victim's property when he was arrested.
April 10, 2022 at 10:30pm: Pasadena Officers responded to the area of Raymond Ave. and Colorado Bl. regarding a male assaulting another male. When the first officer arrived on scene, the assault was still in progress. The officer ordered the suspect to stop and the suspect turned his anger towards the officer. A brief physical altercation ensued with the officer and the suspect was eventually taken into custody. The investigation determined the initial assault was an attempted robbery that officers interrupted.
April 11, 2022 at 3:02pm: Pasadena Police Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of E. Walnut St. regarding a call of a man who brandished a firearm. The business’ employees reported the suspect tried leaving the store without paying for merchandise and when asked for proof of purchase, the suspect brandished the firearm. The suspect fled the business in a vehicle while still in possession of the stolen merchandise. A short time later, officers located the fleeing suspectandwhentheyattemptedtostophim,apursuitensued. Thesuspect'serraticdrivingduring the pursuit was so dangerous, officers stopped pursuing the vehicle. The suspect was located a few days later and he was arrested without incident.
April 11, 2022 at 4:26pm: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of Nithsdale Rd. in regards to a male threatening residents in the area and breaking car windows. A resident yelled at the subject to stop. When confronted, the subject ran towards the resident causing her to retreat into her home. Officers contacted the subject and detained him with no incident. He was arrested for vandalism and assault.
April 12, 2022 at 6:57pm: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 2800 block of E. Foothill Bl. in regard to a carjacking investigation. The victim, who was loading boxes from his vehicle into his business, was approached by the suspect. The suspect displayed what appeared to be a firearm and demanded the victim's car keys. The victim was in fear and gave the suspect the car keys. The suspect left in the stolen vehicle, which was recovered a few days later.
April 13, 2022 at 1:25pm: Pasadena Police Officers were investigating a residence in the 1100 block of N. Wilson Ave. for sales of narcotics. A search warrant was served and evidence of narcotics sales were recovered. The resident was arrested for sales of a controlled substance.
April 14, 2022 at 7:37pm: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the area of Los Robles Ave. and Parke St. regarding an assault. Three suspects approached and struck the victim several times, went through his pant pockets removing a cell phone and wallet. The suspects fled in a nearby vehicle with the stolen property. The victim sustained only minor injuries as a result of the assault and the investigation into this robbery is ongoing.
April 15, 2022 at 7:45pm: Pasadena Officers responded to the area of Foothill Bl. and Sierra Madre Villa Ave. regarding a robbery. As the victim left an ATM, he placed items in his pocket. Moments later, the victim was assaulted from behind and the suspect grabbed the items from his pocket. The victim followed the suspect as he called the police. Arriving officers located the suspect and he was arrested a short time later. The victim suffered only minor injuries.
April 16, 2022 at 7:11am: Pasadena Officers responded the 100 block of W. California Bl. regarding a subject pointing a firearm at another person. Officers arrived and detained the subject with the firearm, which was later determined to be a replica BB gun. The subject was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
April 16, 2022 at 10:29am: Pasadena Officers observed the vehicle taken on April 12th, 2022 during a carjacking, in the area of Lincoln Ave. and Mountain St. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was detained. He was determined to be the suspect from the April 12th carjacking and was subsequently arrested.
April 18, 2022 at 10:43am: Pasadena Officers responded to the 3400 block of E. Foothill Bl. regardingtwomalesfighting. Officersarrivedandcontactedareluctantvictimwhotoldtheofficer that an unknown male assaulted him. Officers learned a verbal altercation escalated into the suspect trying to strike the victim with a vehicle. The victim was never hit by the vehicle and the suspect left the scene. Shortly thereafter, the suspect confronted the victim again and attacked the victim with a baseball bat. The suspect fled but was contacted later by officers and he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
April 18, 2022 at 4:44pm: Pasadena Officers conducted a traffic stop at Sunset Ave. and Glorieta St. for a vehicle code violation. Officers contacted the driver and learned he was driving on a suspendedlicense. Theofficersarrestedthesuspectandconductedasearchofthevehicle. During thesearch,officerslocatedaloadedfirearminsidethecar. Alongwiththefirearm,officerslocated drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
April 20, 2022 at 1:23pm: Pasadena Officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for multiple vehicle code violations near Washington Bl. and El Molino Ave. The driver of the vehicle granted consent to search his vehicle. Further, it was learned the passenger was on probation with search and seizure conditions. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded firearm in the passenger’s property. The passenger was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
April 23, 2022 at 2:25am: Pasadena Officers responded to the 1000 block of Garfield Ave. regarding a known suspect who had slashed the tires of the victim's vehicle and injured the victim. Officers contacted the uncooperative victim who had a non-life threatening stab wound. Witnesses recovered the weapon from the suspect, who had fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
April 23, 2022 at 4:27pm: Pasadena Officers located a suspect the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Howard St. who was wanted for an assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect initially barricaded himself inside his vehicle when officers contacted him. After negotiations, officers de-escalated the situation and the suspect surrendered to officers. A firearm was recovered from within the vehicle.
April 29, 2022 at 3:05am: Pasadena Officers responded to the 800 block of N. Lake Ave. regarding a ShotSpotter Alert. Officers detained a group and one firearm was located next to one of the members of the group. A second subject admitted to also possessing a firearm in his vehicle. Officer recovered both firearms and both subjects were arrested for firearms violations.
