It is the vision of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank that “no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County” and Pasadena City College is assisting in that vision by hosting our third annual Million Meals Marathon Food Drive on November 21-22, 2015 on the Pasadena City College campus. It has been estimated that over 1.7 million people (400,000 of them children) experience hunger in Los Angeles County making the work of food banks more critical than ever before. Hunger effects not only the people in our community but also pets that belong to individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. With little money to meet their own needs, families often find that they can no longer afford to keep their pets. To help with this growing problem of feeding pets, the Million Meals Marathon is also accepting donations of pet food for the Pasadena Humane Society Pet Food Bank.
The third annual PCC Million Meals Marathon will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21st and end on Sunday at 11:00, November 22nd . This year, we are excited to announce the return of L.A.vation (the world’s greatest U2 tribute band) as the headliners for a benefit concert, which is free to the community with a donation of food! Performances by DSB (a popular Journey tribute band) and a yet to be named third performance will round out the evening’s events. Our goal is to collect over 10,000 pounds of food for the LA Regional Food Bank and enough food to stock the Humane Society Food Banks for 2-3 months.
