The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is disseminating a survey that looks at how the COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), how these SMEs are adapting to the current circumstances, and how this may or may not be connected to broader weather-related stressors they may face. The focus is to inform Federal agencies as they continue to provide information and assistance. We’d be grateful to have information from members of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association.

The main focus of the survey work is to document: (1) the novel resilience-based mitigation actions employed during the COVID-19 pandemic by SMEs by sector, (2) challenges in implementing resilience-based mitigation actions, (3) utilization of past strategies and approaches to provide assistance to the current situation, and (4) planned resilience actions and strategies. The purpose of this survey is to understand what challenges businesses face through complex hazards, what support businesses need, and to communicate this to those who may be able to provide assistance. We’d like to learn about practices taken that have helped reduce the impact of COVID-19, especially in the face of future hazard events.
