Through our work with the College and Career Office and on campuses, and largely thanks to the help , support and involvement of Pasadena Chamber members, we have been able to impact the future of many students in the Pasadena Unified School District.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is directly involved with preparing our youth for the world of work. We do this by engaging our business community to connect with Pasadena Unified School  District high school students.

Your tax-deductible contribution towards Pasadena Youth Works goes a long way to improving the future for a local Pasadena Unified student. Click here to support stipends for student interns: https://www.gofundme.com/PasadenaYouthWorks.

We have been engaged with the PUSD office of College and Careers for the past year and a half, yet have seen much progress. In that short time we’ve experienced many benchmarks of success:

  • 80 interns were placed by the Chamber with host companies during the summer and fall of 2016;
  • Many of the summer interns placed by the Chamber were hired at the conclusion of the internship either by Ideal Youth or their host company;
  • Classroom speakers talked with PUSD high school students about legal careers, marketing, making your passion your business, becoming a pilot, engineering concepts with electric vehicles, careers in the Fire Department, health careers and careers in conservation;
  • The Business and Entrepreneurship Academy at John Muir High School is implementing an exciting student-run credit union under the direction of Pasadena Service Federal Credit Union to open in 2017. Students will enhance financial literacy and savings within the community while gaining real-world experience working in a financial institution.
  • The Chamber has partnered with USC in their adopt-a-school/adopt-a-teacher program for Muir's Engineering and Environmental Science Academy. Students in the Academy visited the Viturbi School of Engineering at USC to hear about one professor's work using engineering to help preserve endangered species and to learn about writing for engineering;
  • Many college bound students have sharpened their focus on a particular degree path due to their experience;
  • All Chamber interns developed skills and experience necessary to obtain employment.
  • Youth interns for 2016 each received a stipend of $250 or were paid directly by their host companies.

To keep building this pipeline for student talent we need your support.

Please consider donating up to $250 per student intern to help support stipends for young people during the summer of 2016.

Your donation is fully tax deductible. 100% of money donated will be used directly to provide stipends for youth interns.

Please contribute a tax deductible donation towards Pasadena Youth Works by the end of the year. It’s only a click away to make a huge impact on our community. https://www.gofundme.com/PasadenaYouthWorks.

Study after study shows that high school students who have work experience as a teenager are significantly more likely to succeed after high school. They are more likely to graduate college and much more likely to find success in the world of work.

Please support our local public high school students and the Pasadena Chamber effort to support our local public school system.

Make your tax deductible donation before the end of the year at https://www.gofundme.com/PasadenaYouthWorks.
