Spring arrives in just about a month and a half, and boy, is this one going to be spectacular. After all the winter rain, the Descanso Gardens will be bursting at the seams with blooms of every variety this March including tulips, cherry blossoms, lilacs, irises, camellias, daffodils and much, much more. Come experience the splendor first-hand with a variety of activities designed to inspire, educate and delight.

SHIKI: The Four Seasons in Japanese Art: February 18–May 21

SHIKI: The Four Seasons in Japanese Art brings the exquisite designs of the seasons in Japanese art to Descanso’s Sturt Haaga Gallery from February 18 to May 21. This exhibition from the Scripps College collection in Claremont, features common seasonal motifs, featuring delicate items such as a bowl with wisteria blossoms gracing the interior or maple leaves embellishing a kimono. Augmenting the exhibition, programs will include Gallery tours and talks along with hands-on activities to engage families and individuals in the process of creating.

LA Blooms:

Spring/Summer Hours begin March 20

Descanso will keep its doors open from 5–7pm daily from March 20–August 31, 2023. Stroll through the garden after work on a weekday or soak in seasonal blooms on a weekend evening.

Founded as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Descanso Gardens is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults; $11 for seniors and students with a school I.D.; $5 for children 5 to 12, and free for children under 5.
