Nicholas Connon serves as the Vice Chair of the Judicial Elections Evaluation Committee, which is responsible for investigating, analyzing, interviewing and rating candidates running for judicial office. He generously shared the commmittee's evaluations of the qualifications of candidates for local judicial offices.
The JEEC has issued its final report, which follows.
I am always stymied when I reach this portion of the ballot. Having qualifications ratings from teh LA Bar Association is helpful in making decisions on candidates of judicial office that I have never met, heard of (or from) and can't properly evaluate for effectiveness on the bench.
For those of you voting in the upcoming election, I suggest you take a look at the report and the ratings of the candidates (pages 9-10 of the Report). The JEEC spends a significant amount of time preparing the ratings for each candidate. You might want to take the ratings with you to the voting booth to help you select the best candidates to put on the bench. Also, feel free to share with anyone you think could be interested.
