Pasadena Councilmember John J. Kennedy Passes Away

Pasadena City Council Member John J. Kennedy passed away Thursday after an illness.

Mr. Kennedy was well known in the community. He was raised here and attended Pasadena schools before going on to higher education, including receiving a law degree from Howard University.

In his career he worked in the public and private sectors. He was elected to represent District 3 on the Pasadena City Council in 2013. He was recently re-elected.

It is unclear if the City Council will appoint a successor to serve out Mr. Kennedy's term or can hold a special election to fill the seat.

We have expressed condolences to the family who have asked that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
