This information provides a greater awareness to the Pasadena community. The critical events detailed below are merely a snapshot of the calls received to the Police Communications Center every day. As we begin the New Year, your police department strives to better serve the Pasadena community. Under Police Chief John Perez, the principles of the “Pasadena Way” will forever have a lasting impact on all employees who serve in the organization, as we continue to police with compassion and best intentions.

February 1, 2021 at 7:05pm: Pasadena officers responded to the report of a disturbance call at
an apartment complex in the 500 block of N. Raymond Ave. The Police Department’s helicopter
was first to arrive on scene and observed a group of individuals to the rear of the complex. One
of the individuals in the group was observed concealing an item in some nearby shrubbery. Ground
units subsequently detained individuals from the group and a search of the bushes where the
aircrew saw the suspect conceal the item, resulted in the recovery of a firearm. Another individual
from the group was stopped a short time later and he was also found to be in possession of a
handgun.

February 2, 2021 at 5:53pm: Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Fair
Oaks Ave. and Howard St. During the stop, officers discovered the driver did not have a driver's
license in his possession and they noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the
vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana, resulting in the search of the vehicle. A firearm
with a high capacity magazine was located and recovered from inside the passenger
compartment. The passenger was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm.

February 3, 2021 at 5:40pm: Officers responded to a business in the 800 block of N. Lake Ave.
regarding an armed robbery. Employees confronted a patron for not wearing a face covering while
inside the business, resulting in an argument. During the confrontation, the suspect removed and
pointed a firearm at the business employees. Fearing they would be shot, the employees backed
away from the suspect who eventually fled after stealing items.

February 3, 2021 at 7:53pm: Officers were dispatched to a strong-armed robbery that had
occurred in the 1200 block of N. Lake Ave. The victim was sitting at a bus stop when the suspect
sat next to her. The suspect followed the victim onto the bus and when the victim exited, the
suspect confronted her and robbed her of her cash.

February 5, 2021 at 1:56pm: Officers responded to the report of a suspicious male seen loitering
in the area of Arden St. and Oak Knoll Ave. Officers arrived, immediately recognized the subject
from previous contacts and arrests, and were aware the subject acts violently towards police
officers. While attempting to detain the subject, he tried punching an officer. A struggle ensued
and eventually, officers were able to detain him. The suspect is known to suffer from mental
illness.

February 6, 2021 at 11:41am: Officers responded to the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Washington
Blvd. regarding an accident involving a horse drawn carriage during a funeral procession. The
driver was injured and the carriage had turned onto its side. Officers, paramedics and members of
the public assisted in righting the carriage and injured driver, who had sustained multiple injuries
to his legs. He was transported to a local hospital and the horse’s owner responded to take
possession of the uninjured equine.

February 6, 2021 at 9:52pm: Officers conducted a stop of a vehicle for traffic violations on Fair
Oaks Ave. and Claremont St. During their contact with the driver, officers detected an odor of
marijuana coming from the vehicle. Furthermore, marijuana was clearly visible to the officers.
The occupant was asked to exit the vehicle and a search was conducted. Inside the car, officers
located and seized a loaded handgun and narcotics.

February 8, 2021 at 2:30am: Officers responded to the 100 block of E. Orange Grove Blvd.
regarding a male who had been shot. Officers located the male and determined he had sustained a
graze wound to the right side of his head and ear. The victim was transported to the hospital with
non-life threatening injuries. The victim stated a vehicle pulled up in front of him and shot at him.
The victim was uncooperative in providing further details regarding the incident.

February 11, 2021 at 6:39pm: Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian who had been struck
by a vehicle while crossing Washington Blvd. at Hudson Ave. Despite life saving measures, the
victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Members of Pasadena Police Major Accident
Investigations Team (M.A.I.T) responded for the investigation. The driver remained on scene and
was fully cooperative with investigators.

February 12, 2021 at 9:02pm: Patrons from a business located in the 700 block of E. Colorado
Blvd. returned to their locked bikes after completing their shopping. The victims noticed two
suspects using a hammer in an attempt to break the locks. When confronted by the victim, one
suspect began swinging the hammer in a threatening manner. The suspects fled with the bikes. A
short time later, officers located one suspect with one of the stolen bicycles. He was taken into
custody and the bike was recovered. The other suspect and bike were not immediately located.

February 13, 2021 at 8:57am: Pasadena Police Department received a call of an assault that
occurred in the 1000 block of N. Fair Oaks Ave. During an altercation between the suspect and
victim, the victim was struck with a baseball-sized rock, which had been thrown by the suspect.
When officers arrived, the suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

February 13, 2021 at 11:02am: Officers responded to the 100 block of N. Lake Ave. for a report
of a transient trespassing on the property. When officers arrived, they located the described
individual who was in possession of narcotic paraphernalia and was likely suffering from a
narcotic induced, psychotic episode. As officers attempted to restrain the suspect, she became
violent causing minor injuries to officers. Ultimately, officers were able to take her into custody
and she was arrested.

February 13, 2021 at 6:00pm: Officers responded to the 1900 block of N. Fair Oaks Ave.
regarding a shooting. The victims had recently left a nearby business and as they drove away,
their vehicle was followed and their driving path was blocked by another vehicle. Once stopped,
multiple occupants exited the suspect vehicle and as the victims attempted to escape, the suspects
fired multiple rounds at the victims. The victims were not injured.

February 14, 2021 at 3:00pm: Officers responded to the area of Parke St. and Garfield Ave. after
reports of gunshots were heard in the area. Officers arrived on scene and found a 10-yearold
victim with gunshot wounds. The child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigative lead into this incident. The 10-yearold
child required multiple surgeries as a result of the shooting, but is expected to survive.

February 16, 2021 at 8:26pm: Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of Esther St.
and Raymond Ave. The victim was inside his vehicle when he heard gunfire and saw an unknown
suspect shooting towards him. The victim immediately made a U-turn and drove away from the
area. His vehicle was struck but he was not injured. Evidence of the shooting was located and the
investigation is ongoing.

February 19, 2021 at 10:14am: Officers observed a subject exit his vehicle and urinate in
public. Officers detained the suspect and determined he was on active parole. A parole search of
the vehicle revealed the suspect to be in possession of a loaded handgun. Because he had
previously been convicted of felony and he was on parole, possessing a firearm is both a violation
of his parole conditions and a violation of the law. The suspect was arrested and transported to
the Pasadena jail.

February 19, 2021 at 6:46pm: Pasadena officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 400 block Of
N. Lake Ave. for a vehicle code violation. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a vehicle
pursuit ensued. The pursuit concluded in the City of North Hollywood where the suspect complied
with officers and he was eventually taken into custody. The suspect, who was on active parole,
was determined to be under the influence of narcotics and evidence of narcotics were located in
the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pasadena City jail.

February 19, 2021 at 8:14pm: Pasadena Police Department received reports of gunshots in the
area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Howard St. Officers responded to find evidence of a shooting in the
1400 block of N. Raymond Ave. Officers canvassed the neighborhood but found no victims or
additional suspect information. Detectives are conducting further follow-up.
February 20, 2021 at 6:30pm: Pasadena Officers responded to reports of shots heard in the area
of Altadena Blvd. and Mountain St. Officers found evidence of a shooting and witnesses provided
a description of two vehicles seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. No victims or suspects
were located. Detectives are conducting further follow-up into this incident.

February 21, 2021 at 2:26am: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 500 block of N. Lake
Ave. for a subject who was reported to have rammed his vehicle through the property’s perimeter
fence. Officers arrived, found the subject hiding in a rear parking lot, and discovered he had
donned body armor and a helmet. Additionally, the subject was in possession of a bow and arrows
and a large axe when contacted by officers. Fortunately, officers were able to safely take the
obviously altered suspect into custody. In addition to the damage he caused to the business
property, he was found to be possession of narcotics. Neither the suspect nor officers were injured
during this incident.

February 21, 2021 at 8:06am: Officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 100 block of N. Fair
Oaks Ave. regarding an assault to the business’ security officer. During their investigation,
officers learned the security personnel had been called to investigate a transient in the hotel’s
parking structure who was acting strangely. When the security officer contacted the suspicious
individual, the suspect became combative towards the hotel employee and began throwing a large
rock and other items at the victim. The security officer was not struck and did not sustain any
injuries as a result of the assault. The suspect fled the location prior to officers’ arrival.

February 21, 2021 at 5:50pm: Officers responded to the area of Craig Ave. and Colorado Blvd.
on the report of shots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of a shooting in the
100 block of S. Craig Ave. There were no victims or suspects located.

February 23, 2021 at 10:44pm: Pasadena Police Department received a call of an armed robbery
that had occurred in the 2100 block of E. Del Mar Blvd. The victims had been walking in the area
when two suspect approached them. Only one suspect was armed with a handgun however, both
suspects demanded the victim’s property. After providing the suspects with several personal
items, the suspects fled on foot. The victims were not injured

February 24, 2021 at 6:38am: Officers responded to a hotel in the 100 block of S. Los Robles
Ave. regarding a female who was believed to be overdosing in her guest room. When officers
arrived, they found an unresponsive female lying on the bed as well as narcotics and narcotic
paraphernalia strewn throughout the hotel room. Officers immediately recognized the female was
likely suffering from an apparent overdose and began lifesaving measures. Paramedics arrived
and assumed these efforts. The female recovered and was transported to a local hospital for
additional medical treatment.

February 25, 2021 at 3:41pm: Officers located a reported stolen vehicle and stopped the driver
in the 800 block of N. Oakland Ave. Three subjects occupied the vehicle and all three were taken
into custody without incident. A search of the recovered vehicle resulted in the discovery of a
replica handgun and narcotics. All three suspects were arrested for multiple violations and the
vehicle was returned to the registered owner.

February 26, 2021 at 11:09am: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Fair Oaks Ave.
and Tremont St. The driver of the vehicle (and solo occupant) was discovered to be on active
parole. Because of the driver’s parole conditions, officers conducted a search of the vehicle. A
loaded “ghost” gun was located in the vehicle, which is both a violation of the law and his parole.
The suspect was arrested without incident and transported to the Pasadena City jail.

February 27, 2021 at 2:41pm: Pasadena Officers observed the driver of a vehicle commit
numerous vehicle code violations and intended to stop the vehicle. Before they were able to
conduct the traffic stop for the violations, the vehicle came to a sudden stop in the 400 block of E.
Orange Grove Blvd. The occupants quickly exited the vehicle and walked away. Officers
observed narcotics inside the abandoned vehicle and a short time later, the occupants returned to
the car at which time it was learned the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. A search of
the vehicle led to not only the recovery of the narcotics by officers, but they also discovered
a “ghost” gun and a loaded magazine.

February 27, 2021 at 7:16pm: Pasadena Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Foothill Blvd.
and Sierra Madre Villa Ave. for a vehicle code violation. Upon contact, the driver became
uncooperative with the officers. Ultimately, the suspect admitted to possessing a weapon in the
vehicle. The driver agreed to exit the vehicle and a loaded handgun was found on the driver’s seat,
directly under the suspect. The suspect was arrested without incident and narcotics were also
located inside the vehicle.
