COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus update-State of California, LA County and Pasadena issue Safer at Home order

The Pasadena Public Health Department and the County of Los Angeles have revised their Safer at Home orders.

The Pasadena Public Health Department revised its Safer at Home order. Now excluded as essential businesses are personal grooming services. Hair and nail salons, barbers and others in that industry are ordered closed. Golf courses are also ordered closed throughout Los Angeles County.

As of March 19, 2020, all non-essential businesses are ordered closed. This includes indoor shopping malls and indoor shopping centers as well as indoor children's playgrounds, except those located in child care centers (which can remain open if they are serving families of workers in essential businesses).

Essential business include, but are not limited to, grocery stores, farmers markets, drug stores, convenience stores and other food suppliers. Hardware stores, heating and air conditioning companies, plumbers, electricians, handymen, pet suppliers and those providing non-grocery items that are necessary for safety, sanitation and necessary operations of households are also allowed to remain open. Any employee who can, is ordered to remain at home.

Residents are told to remain at home and maintain social distancing. Outside activities restricted to no more than 10 people who maintain 6 feet of space between themselves.

Be very suspicious of requests for personal information that occur via email, phone, text message, or social media message.

What NOT to do:

  • Don’t open emails about COVID-19 from unknown senders, don’t click on links in emails regarding COVID-19, and be wary of email attachments, especially from unknown senders. These can all be used in phishing scams to steal your personal data or spread computer viruses and malware.
  • Do not click on ads or social media posts regarding COVID-19. They may be fake and contain malicious content.
