Melodia Mariposa presents their second Holiday Concert on Thursday December 21st at the Altadena Town and Country Club. Doors open at 6pm for hors d'oeuvres and drinks and the concert starts at 7pm. The Melodia Mariposa Orchestra is conducted by three time Tony nominee Larry Blank and opera star and two time Emmy winner Suzanna Guzmán will be our featured soloist. The concert will feature many seasonal and classical favorites, including rising star Alistair Picken playing Bassoon. A champagne toast will end the concert.

Hillcrest Neighborhood Walking Tour: Discover one of Pasadena’s most beautiful neighborhoods with the Hillcrest Walking Tour, which takes you by many grand homes in a variety of architectural styles. The Oak Knoll subdivision, of which Hillcrest is part, was intended to rival the wealthy neighborhoods of Orange Grove and the “West Side” (San Rafael and Linda Vista), so many of the estate-size lots were intended for custom home development. The Pasadena Symphony’s annual Holiday Candlelight concert returns to All Saints Church on Saturday, December 16, 2023 with performances at 4:00pm & 7:00pm. Pasadena’s most sought-after event of the season has become a cherished community tradition and sells out quickly. The architecturally exquisite and acoustically sonorous All Saints Church, Pasadena’s equivalent of a European cathedral, provides the perfect setting to immerse yourself in a holiday wonderland among an array of hand bells and choruses, with Pasadena’s premiere orchestra.
Fully-reserved seating is available to purchase throughout the lavish All Saints Church, specially fitted with festive floral and decorations, all under the glow of candlelight. To expand access to affordable comprehensive health services, AltaMed Health Services Corporation, one of the nation’s largest federally qualified community health centers, which operates 57 sites in Los Angeles and Orange counties, has acquired the Community Health Alliance of Pasadena (known as ChapCare), a federally qualified health center serving patients in Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley.
AltaMed will acquire eight ChapCare clinics that serve approximately 18,000 patients. Operating under the name “ChapCare by AltaMed,” AltaMed will ensure uninterrupted comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, and include an expansion of pediatric services and access to locations across Los Angeles and Orange counties for ChapCare patients.

The iconic Red Kettle campaign began many years ago in 1891 in San Francisco to raise money to provide Christmas dinner to those in need. This tradition has now become one of The Salvation Army’s main fundraisers allowing them to provide services year-round. Some of these services include food for low-income and
homeless individuals and families, backpacks for students in need, Thanksgiving & Christmas meals, toys for children of families in need at Christmas, and much more. All monies raised at our Pasadena Red Kettles stays within and helps the greater Pasadena area.
Businesses are encouraged to partner with The Salvation Army Pasadena this Christmas in one of two ways. Businesses can choose to sign up for eight hours on a Saturday or Sunday and get their employees involved by having them sign-up for an hour or two that they ring the bell. There will also be a sign made that will say, “Thank you to (business name) for hosting this kettle”. Another way businesses can get involved is by sponsoring a kettle for a day. If you do not have enough employees to bell ring, you can choose to give a $500 donation to sponsor one of our paid locations for the day.
