Intern Insights - PUSD App Academy students visit Google

In March of 2018, Pasadena High School’s App Academy went on a field trip to Google Venice, California, coordinated by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Workforce development Director Amy Foell. The App Academy is a four year computer program academy where students learn how to code in HTML, JavaScript and CSS.

While at Google, students received a tour of the campus, observed employees hard at work, including a small dog to go with the casual culture. The roof of Google has a patio where there is space for yoga, barbecuing and a giant chess set. Google hosted a panel of engineers for students to have a Q & A session about career aspirations, educational background and the Google work environment.

"It was really interesting going to Google. The area was super cool and the employees seemed really nice. I guess you could say the giant chess set stole the show." -Devin Gaughan, App Academy, Class of 2019
