Chamber lunch for potential intern host companies at Brookside

The Chamber hosted a successful Business Partner Recruitment Luncheon with the goal to attract more businesses to host interns over the summer.

Guests included Mayor Terry Tornek, Assistant Superintendent Marisa Sarian and Dr. Elizabeth Pomeroy, president of the PUSD Board of Education. 65 other guests spanning the private and public sector also attended.

Dr. Denis Buckley of Health Advantage Health Physical Medicine talked about his experience as an intern host last summer. Elizabeth Dever of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House and Donald Schweitzer of the Law Office of Donald Schweitzer shared first-hand their intern experiences from our pilot program in summer of 2015.

Michael Ocon, now a senior at Pasadena High’s Law and Public Service Academy won the crowd over with his moving speech about the positive impact interning and working at Figari Law Firm has had on shaping his college and career goals.

More than 25 new business partners were recruited in this effort coming from a range of industries from culinary arts and hospitality, business and entrepreneurship, engineering and environmental science, law and public service and health careers.
