It is Amazing how Clever Scammers Can Be!

I received these emails this week from (haha) Microsoft:

Microsoft O365
Password Expiry Notification

Hello Paul,

Your password for paul@pasadena-chamber.org will expire today Thursday, April 14, 2022.

 

Keep My Password (I disconnected the link)

and this one, also:

Microsoft 365

Hi paul,

You have less than 3% of your paul@pasadena-chamber.org storage space and 7 undelivered messages. If you run out of storage space you will not be able to send or receive messages from Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

You should clear cache to release pending emails and free some space .

CLEAR CACHE (I disconnected the link)


Note: Action is required before Tuesday, April 12, 2022 to avoid mail malfunction

Each came from info@paymentus.com, not microsoft that has an @microsoft.com address.

If you receive anything like this, please do not click on the link.

Pfishers, scammers, pirates and ransomware all use these sorts of ploys to takeover your computer systems, harvest your contact lists and dishonestly separate you from your money.

The same is true of messages you receive on your cell phone. Text messaging is now commonly used not just for SPAM but to infect your phone and hijack your data.

Please be careful of anything you receive that was not expected or solicited by you.
