Friends in Deed honors Bill and Claire Bogaard at Jazz on the Green September 25th - sponsorships available

“Doing together what we cannot do alone”

In celebration of Friends In Deed’s 125th anniversary, this year’s Jazz on the Green is going to be more splendid than ever! Once again, the fundraising event will be held at Castle Green, one of the best-loved historical buildings in Pasadena.

On September 25, 2019, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., guests and honorees will enjoy the smooth sounds of jazz, drinks from local wine producers and distilleries, and a gourmet selection of appetizers and small plates provided by local eateries. There will also be a silent auction, with an exciting array of items to bid for.

Honorees for the event are Mishele Myers, Nothing Bundt Cakes Pasadena, Pasadena Covenant Church, and Bill and Claire Bogaard. These individuals and organizations have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to the needs of the Pasadena community and have been long-serving supporters of Friends In Deed’s mission and programs. For their service to the City of Pasadena, Bill and Claire Bogaard are to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Richard Cheung, Board President of Friends In Deed, said: "Celebrating our 125th year serving our most vulnerable neighbors has

Friends in Deed Jazz on the Green
been a very humbling experience for our agency and, continuing that theme of celebrating long service, it will be an honor to recognize Bill and Claire Bogaard for their years of work in our community."

Musical accompaniment to the evening will be provided by the Donovan/Muradian Trio (DMT) featuring Chad Edwards. The trio is located in the Pasadena area, and musicians Chad Edwards (piano), Larry Muradian (bass) and Jeff Donovan (drums) perform the music they love with a swinging, straight-ahead jazz style reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s.

Friends in Deed, a 125-year-old social services agency in Pasadena, focuses on alleviating the effects of poverty for our community’s most vulnerable citizens. Monies raised will go to support its Food Pantry (open three days each week), the Women’s Room (a day shelter for homeless and at-risk women), Bad Weather Shelter (weather activated during the winter months), Street Outreach Team (working to end homelessness on the streets of Pasadena) and Homelessness Prevention Program (rental assistance for folks threatened with eviction). Friends in Deed is committed to providing a dignified experience for all its clients and the ongoing fight for long-term sustainable housing for all.
