Complete the US Census - be counted and ensure repersentation and resources for our local community

July 16, 2020

Dear Pasadena Resident:

The 2020 Census count is happening now, with the US Census Bureau accepting completed census questionnaires online, by telephone, or through paper submissions.  The self-responding period is a vital part of getting an accurate count of all residents living in Pasadena.  Census data provides the basis for distributing billions of federal dollars for schools, transportation, housing, and health care programs.   Following the 2010 Census, Pasadena received over $400 million in funds to support vital programs benefiting our most vulnerable communities.   Census data is also used as the basis to allocate such things as COVID-19 support funds.

As of this writing, just 64.5% of residents living in Pasadena have responded to the census questionnaire.  We need to do better!   There are still two census tracts in the City where responses are below 50%, and many others that are below the 60% response level.

If you have not yet responded, please do so today!  Your participation will help ensure that Pasadena receives its fair share of funding allocated to cities, as well as shape the City’s voice in our democracy through reapportionment and the drawing of voting district boundaries. The questionnaire is short, needing just 10 minutes of your time to complete the required 10 questions.

Who Gets Counted During Census?

All residents living in the same household in Pasadena as of April 1, 2020.  Count everyone living at your address including parents, children, infants, grandparents, roommates, and renters.
