City Council appoints Innovate Pasadena leader Andy Wilson to vacant District 7 council seat

The City Council on Monday, June 15, 2015, appointed Andy Wilson to fill the District 7 Council seat vacated by Terry Tornek after Mr. Tornek was elected mayor.  Mr. Wilson will serve as the appointed District 7 councilmember until Monday, May 1, 2017.

“It’s an honor to have been selected to represent District 7.  During the next two years, I look forward to working with my council colleagues to restore the public’s trust, improve financial accountability and transparency and promote tech and design innovation that supports sustainable economic growth,” Councilmember Wilson said.

Councilmember Wilson is co-founder/CEO of Rexter, a venture-backed software start-up focused on sales team productivity.  Previously, as founder of Momentum Ventures, he led more than a half-dozen SoCal tech start-ups and is an investor in almost a dozen other ventures.

In addition to being Rexter’s CEO, Councilmember Wilson serves on the corporate boards and advisory boards of several prominent SoCal start-ups.  He has extensive board experience in not-for-profit/community organizations including service on the Planning Commission, Design Commission and the Pasadena Center Operating Company Board of Directors. 

He is also the co-founder and co-chair of Innovate Pasadena, www.innovatepasadena.org, a regional high-tech organization dedicated to advancing the Eastside of Los Angeles County and the San Gabriel Valley as a vibrant, innovation community.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
