BOB HOPE AIRPORT TO HOLD GRAND OPENING FOR $112 MILLION REGIONAL INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION CENTER –

Over 200 guests are expected to attend the Grand Opening ceremony for the $112 million Regional

Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC) at Burbank Bob Hope Airport Friday, June 27, capping off a

two-year construction program for the largest capital project in the Airport’s history and establishing the

first direct rail-to-terminal connection at any Southern California airport. News coverage is invited.

Located immediately across the street from the Bob Hope Airport Train Station (served by Metrolink and

Amtrak), the RITC will house a new bus transit station and rental car facilities for 11 rent a car brands

and over 1000 vehicles. The RITC is connected to the passenger terminal via an elevated walkway,

eliminating the need for shuttles for rental car customers and rail or bus travelers.

The event will feature an announcement about plans for a bridge to connect the RITC to the Train Station

platform, and remarks from civic and transportation leaders who will highlight the importance of linking

the Airport to public transportation options in the region.

Speakers will include:

 Brian Kelly, Secretary, California State Transportation Agency

 Diane DuBois, Chair, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors

 Ray Tellis, Los Angeles Office of the Federal Transit Administration

 Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, Amtrak Board of Directors

 Dario Frommer, California Transportation Commission

 Sen. Carol Liu

 Mayors of Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena
