Your police department strives to better serve the Pasadena community. On October 1, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to a business in the 1000 block of Colorado Blvd. Callers advised that a suspect was pilfering and destroying cash registers at the location. Officers responded to the scene and located the suspect walking from the location. As an officer attempted to detain the suspect, the suspect ran away and was subsequently physically restrained. During the ensuing scuffle, the suspect struck the officer in the face. The officer drew his Taser (conducted energy weapon) which resulted in immediate compliance by the suspect, who was subsequently handcuffed and detained by other responding officers. No deployment of the Taser device occurred. The suspect was booked for felony assault, felony vandalism, and theft-related offenses.

On October 1, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to the 3200 block of E. Foothill Blvd regarding a robbery. On arrival, the victims told the officers, that two males entered the gas station, and demanded money from the register, and access to a safe. One of the suspects brandished a semi-automatic handgun and ordered the employees to their knees. The employees complied while the suspects retrieved money from the register and fled the location.

On October 3, 2022, a Pasadena Police officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lake Ave. and Maple St. for a vehicle code violation. The officer contacted the driver and detected an extremely strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The officer conducted a records check of the driver’s name and discovered that the driver was unlicensed and had two outstanding arrest warrants. The driver was detained and consented to a search of his vehicle which led to the discovery of a handgun under the driver’s seat and approximately 15 pounds of marijuana in the trunk. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail.

On October 4, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to the 500 block of E. Union St. regarding a subject who was refusing to leave. The victim indicated that the suspect armed himself with two pieces of steel and threatened to kill him. The victim walked away, creating distance from the suspect and called the police. When police arrived, the suspect was uncooperative. After several minutes, the suspect put down the weapons and ran away. Officers located him and took him into custody. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

On October 5, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a parking lot in the 100 block of N. Euclid Ave. regarding a suspicious person in a car refusing to leave the location. When officers arrived, they contacted the person in the vehicle and immediately observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. The subject was initially uncooperative, but he was eventually detained. A dagger was recovered from his person, along with the drug paraphernalia in the car. A further search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun and methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pasadena jail where he was booked.

On October 6, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to the 900 block of N. Lake Ave. regarding a suspect armed with a gun and knives. The subject was seen throwing bullets at pedestrians. When officers arrived, the suspect was detained without incident. During the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of an illegal dagger and bullets. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm concealed inside the driver’s compartment. The suspect was transported to Pasadena PD Jail, where he was booked for possession of a concealed firearm and possession of a dagger.

On October 7, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a business near the intersection of Lake Ave. and Orange Grove Blvd. regarding a robbery. When officers arrived, they contacted the victim who told the officers he was leaving the business when he picked up a discarded lotto ticket on the ground. As he was walking through the parking lot, two males approached him and asked him about the lotto ticket. One of the suspects brandished a small handgun and snatched a pre-paid cell phone card from the victim. The suspects fled the location south on Lake Ave.

On October 10, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to the 1300 block of El Sereno Ave. regarding a ShotSpotter alert. Officers located 6 rounds in front of a residence in the area but did not locate any victims. In addition to the ShotSpotter alert, three calls for service were called into the Police Department Communications Center. Detectives have assumed the investigation.

On October 10, 2022, Pasadena Police Officers were canvassing the area of Washington Blvd. and Fair Oaks Ave. regarding a ShotSpotter alert. While canvassing, officers located an individual in the parking lot near the southwest corner of Fair Oaks Ave. and Washington Blvd. While contacting the subject, the officers noticed a bulge in the individual's waistband and conducted a pat-down search. The searching officer immediately recognized the bulge as that of a concealed firearm. The suspect broke away from the officers and officers pursued him south through the Kings Villages. During the pursuit, officers saw the suspect toss a handgun. A pursuing officer deployed his taser at the suspect and the suspect was taken into custody just north of Claremont Ave. in the Kings Villages. The suspect was transported to a local hospital following the Taser deployment. The handgun the suspect tossed while being pursued was recovered by officers. The suspect was arrested.

On October 14, 2022, Pasadena Police officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Navarro Ave. and Washington Blvd. Upon contacting the occupants, officers immediately smelled a marijuana odor from inside the vehicle. As the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle, the passenger (suspect) admitted to being in possession of a handgun. The handgun was recovered from the suspect's waistband without incident. The suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and booked at Pasadena jail.

On October 14, 2022, Pasadena Police officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Madison Ave. and Orange Grove Blvd. During the investigation, it was discovered the driver was driving on a suspended license. The suspect was arrested, and prior to impounding the vehicle, officers asked the suspect if there was anything illegal inside. The suspect admitted to having a handgun inside the vehicle. Officers recovered a handgun from the center console area. The suspect was later arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and booked at Pasadena jail.

On October 19, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Hammond St. Upon contacting the occupants, officers could smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. The driver told officers that he had an outstanding warrant, and all occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. A records check confirmed the outstanding warrant. Officers searched the suspect’s vehicle and located a loaded handgun near the driver's seat. The driver was arrested and booked.

On October 21, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to the 2000 block of N Raymond Ave regarding a shots fired call. When officers arrived on scene, a witness told officers they saw 4-5 males in an argument. The witness stated they heard one of the subjects say something regarding firing a gun, and one shot was heard. Officers canvassed the area and located one unexpended 9mm round and one expended .40 caliber casing. Detectives have assumed the investigation.

On October 22, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on the Eastbound 210 freeway. The vehicle failed to yield, and a direct pursuit was initiated for less than a 1/2 mile. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed before it collided with two vehicles. Officers arrived at the scene of the collision, took the suspects into custody and requested paramedics for those injured at the collision. The suspect’s vehicle was occupied by three occupants. Two subjects were arrested, and the third was released in the field.

On October 23, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to the 500 block of E. California Blvd. regarding a Hate Crime investigation. When officers arrived on scene, they determined that a suspect had vandalized the victim's holiday decorations associated with Diwali - Hindu Festival of Lights. Before police arrived, the victim confronted the suspect at which point the suspect brandished a hammer in a threatening manner before making comments that he could kill the victim. The suspect made additional derogatory comments toward the victim's ethnicity and religion. The suspect was arrested at the scene and booked at the Pasadena Jail.

On October 25, 2022, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Asbury Dr. regarding a vandalism investigation. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim and discovered the suspect had fled. Officers learned the suspect smashed eight windows at the residence utilizing a large and pointed gardening tool known as a mattock. While searching the area for the suspect, a citizen informed officers that a female in possession of a mattock just
entered a residence located in the 1600 block of Casa Grande Street. Officers contained the residence and attempted to contact the suspect. The suspect was eventually taken into custody without incident and the mattock was recovered as evidence.

On October 25, 2022, Pasadena Police officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of E. Washington Blvd. regarding a possible explosion. Officers found the location and were able to determine that there was no explosion. While searching the location, officers found an open rear door and contacted the only subject inside. The subject was detained and stated he was on probation for possession of narcotics. Officers conducted a probation compliance search and found a ghost gun in the area the suspect had been standing. He was arrested for weapon violation charges.
