Playing 18 holes of golf for a cause can make a big impact and change lives. ChapCare’s Third Annual Swing Fore Health Golf Tournament is coming up August 29 and we are grateful to say that every spot is taken; however, we still need your help! Your contribution will ensure that healthcare is accessible to everyone and help keep our community healthy and strong.
ChapCare’s mission is to provide excellent, comprehensive and innovative health care that is accessible to all the residents of the San Gabriel Valley. Approximately 95% of ChapCare patients live at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG), and 87% live at or below 100% of the FPG, with 21% uninsured. ChapCare provides a “one-stop” shop where patients across all lifecycles can access culturally and linguistically competent primary healthcare services, including medical and dental care, behavioral and substance use counseling, nutrition and health education, optometry services, and prevention programs.
Every story we hear is different. A new patient who just moved to the United States in June from war-torn Ukraine recently came to the ChapCare Del Mar Clinic. She and her husband endured bombs dropping 1 block from their home in Kyiv, taking refuge in an underground parking garage, and sleeping on the ground with no blankets in the freezing winter.
Add to that being pregnant with your first child.
They made the decision to leave the city and their families very suddenly, with only a few bags of clothing and other necessities. After spending two months driving through Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and Poland, they found a sponsor and came here.
The Pasadena Department of Public Health referred them to us, and they said, “ChapCare took us in right away and helped us enrolling for health insurance and other required documentation when Medi-Cal did not return our calls or did not have answers. We knew English before coming here but there is still some difficulty with language and ChapCare provided us with a translator. That was a nice surprise and a big help.”
She summed up her appreciation for ChapCare by saying, “I feel safe. I am not alone. I am under protection. ChapCare saved us.”
Please help us make a difference in people lives by making your pledge today: https://chapcare.org/how-to-give-back/donate/
Our work is not be possible without your support.
