More than 160 people we on hand for the annual Business and Economic Summit hosted by the Pasadena Chamber and the City of Pasadena, sponsored by Wells Fargo.

Guests enjoyed a lunch at the University Club while hearing from economists, city economic development experts and industry leaders on the state of the local economy.

Featured speaker Somjita Mitra, Ph.D., director of the Institute for Applied Economics at Los Angeles Coun ty Economic Development Corporatioon gave an overview of our economy and highlighted factors that could impact the local business climate. City of Pasadena Economic Development Manager Eric Duyshart provided insights into growth and development in Pasadena as well as some trends we are seeing locally. Tom Soderstrom, chief IT technology and innovatioon officer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory discussed trends in technology aqs itrelates to space exploration and our current and future work environment, with special not made about the role of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in today's environment and where those technologies may develop applications to our working world. Christopher Dougherty, administrator at Shriner's for Children Medical Center in Pasadena discussed the unique working relationship between Shriner's and Huntington Hospital, as well as trends in medicine from remote diagnosis to computer and robot assisted surergies.
