On Friday, May 13, 2016, the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley will host its 5th Annual Women’s Leadership & Networking Day. This exciting event will be held at Villa Gardens, located at 843 East Villa Street, Pasadena CA 91101.
This informative day-long workshop highlights women who make a difference in public policy, civil rights, community activism, civic engagement, education, health, science, and other fields that impact our community. Each year, over 100 women of different ages, careers, and backgrounds come together to learn from each other, network, and discuss what it means to live, work, achieve, and lead. This year’s theme is We Have The Power! Women Who Shape Politics, Public Policy, and Activism. #wehavethepower
Guest speakers include Miriam Burbano – LA Metro Chapter President of the National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC); Joy Chen – Author and former Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles; Lena Kennedy – CEO of LL Kennedy & Associates and Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Stephanie Molen – Director of Partnerships at the Coalition Against Slavery & Trafficking (CAST); and Marta Segura - CEO and Founder for Grassroots Organizational Leadership and Development (GOLD). The event also features newsanchor Susanne Whatley of KPCC 89.3 FM as emcee.
This year we will continue to build a network of successful women and celebrate what it means to be a female leader in the workforce and the community. This event provides women the opportunity to network, share advice about career fields, and further their personal and professional development through breakout activities, question and answer sessions, and unique presentations about women in various leadership roles.
“We are thrilled to have such a diverse group of awe-inspiring women participating at this year’s event. The Women’s Leadership & Networking Day is a sharing of wisdom, intuition, tips, and tools to empower women in their careers and personal life, as well as an opportunity to be in the company of amazing women –women leaders for today, and for our future,” said Jessica Kubel, Director of the YWCA Pasadena.
Tickets for the event are $85. Tickets include breakfast and lunch for all attendees. The event will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a networking mixer immediately to follow. Tickets are available for purchase at www.ywca.org/WLND2016, or by contacting Cinthya Martinez at 626.296.8433.
