The price of gasoline in the United States reached a new high on Tuesday at $4.173 per gallon, surpassing the previous high set in July 2008.

California’s move to endemicity-from the New York Times

Last month California became the first state in the U.S. to officially move from a pandemic approach to the virus toward an endemic one.

The state unveiled a “next phase” playbook that will treat the virus as a manageable risk, with measures to promote vaccines, stockpile medical supplies and combat disinformation. It marked a new chapter for the state and the nation.

Indoor Mask Mandate: A city official clarified Tuesday morning that Pasadena will not immediately lift its indoor mask mandate for unvaccinated people Tuesday as earlier reports had indicated.

City spokesperson Lisa Derderian said Pasadena will join Los Angeles County in continuing to impose the indoor mask requirement for the time being, despite the state lifting the requirement as of Tuesday.

The idea behind the new strategy is to move the nation out of crisis mode and into a stage where the virus will no longer disrupt everyday life. The president spoke in broad strokes about the way forward during his State of the Union address last night.

Pasadena has issued an updated health order effective Saturday which will give fully vaccinated people the option to either wear or remove masks in many indoor settings in alignment with State Health Officer’s recent order.

District Attorney Gascón Warns Consumers About COVID-19…

District Attorney George Gascón released two public service announcements on Thursday warning people to beware of scams based on the increased demand for COVID-19 testing.

“The best way to protect consumers is with knowledge. My goal is to give consumers the information they need to avoid becoming victims,” Gascón said. “These crimes are particularly egregious because fake COVID-19 tests and testing sites put everyone’s health at risk.”

England begins living with the virus-from the New York Times

This week Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that he was scrapping the remaining coronavirus restrictions in England, saying it was time to live with the virus.

While he did not declare the nation’s health crisis over, the move put his country ahead of most others in Europe regarding the speed with which it hopes to return to normal life.
