I received this email last week:
Bill For February 2022-02-14<people.culture@spectra.co>

|
Looks sort of legit, right? Except we do not business with Spectra.co and have no idea who this is from. And, the return email address is .co.
It is another scam to get us to click on a link and either have our contacts list pirated, our computers frozen and held for ransom or something even more sinister.
And this one:

pasadena-chamber/salary bonus form
505 KB
Download <https://storage.cloud.google.com/ann03aaf3v0nfnv33kp.appspot.com/index.html>
Save to OneDrive - /pasadena-chamber Inc <https://storage.cloud.google.com/ann03aaf3v0nfnv33kp.appspot.com/index.html>
And:
The one from a law office with documents for me to download and sign, except the return email is not anyone I ver heard of and when I email to ask if it was legit, I received no response.
Please be careful about opening anything from a sender you do not recognize.
Or even one you may seem to know.
If you are not expecting an email, invoice or pdf file from someone you know, always check the return email address, Even if the name is familiar, the email address may not be.
Do not click on links in emails, even from friends, if you do not know where it leads. Often our acquaintances names are used to infiltrate your computer.
If you are at all suspicious, do not open an attachment or click on a link. EVEN IF THE EMAIL ADDRESS IS FAMILIAR. It could be ransomware.
It is best to contact the seller and ask if they are sending it.
Take care of your IT systems and beware of scammers, pfishers, pirates and other internet ne'er do wells.
Now, about those phone calls from a bank, the IRS, Social Security Administration...
