This information provides a greater awareness to the Pasadena community. The critical events detailed below are merely a snapshot of the calls received to the Police Communications Center every day. Your police department strives to better serve the Pasadena community. Interim Police Chief Cheryl Moody continues to adhere to the principles of the “Pasadena Way” as she leads the Police Department into its new chapter. These principles will forever have a lasting impact on all employees who serve in the organization, as we continue to police with compassion and best intentions.

March 1, 2022 at 1:48am: Pasadena Police Officers received a single call of shots heard in the area of Arroyo Bl. and La Cresta Dr. Officers responded and canvassed the area. With the aid of ShotSpotter, officers located evidence of a shooting in the roadway near the 1800 block of La Cresta Dr. No victims or strike marks were located. The investigation is ongoing.

March 2, 2022 at 12:09am: A Pasadena Police Officer was providing patrol to the area of Garfield Ave. and Orange Grove Bl. when a subject, believed to be responsible for recent gang graffiti, was contacted. During their conversation, the officer attempted to conduct a cursory search of the subject for weapons and he became combative towards the officer. Additional officers responded to assist and a physical struggle ensued. The subject was eventually detained and was discovered to be on active parole as well as in possession of narcotics. Officers arrested the subject for narcotics possession, assault on an officer and violation of his parole.

March 2, 2022 at 3:49pm: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Garfield Ave. in regards to a man with a knife attempting to hurt a nearby resident. The victim was gardening in front of their residence when the suspect approached, produced a metal object and while standing in close proximity, made several stabbing motions towards the victim. The victim's family member intervened and chased the suspect away. Officers searched the area for the suspect but he was not located. The victim was not injured.

March 2, 2022 at 11:51pm: Pasadena Officers responded to the area of Del Mar Bl. and Hudson Ave. in regards to the theft of a purse. The victim was taking a nightly walk, when she was attacked from behind by an unknown suspect. The victim was knocked to the ground and the suspect forcibly took her purse and left the area on foot in an unknown direction. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and follow-up investigation will be conducted by Detectives to identify the person responsible.

March 5, 2022 at 12:53am: Pasadena Police Officers responded to a business in the 100 block of N. Lake Ave regarding a male transient who had stolen an item. When confronted by security, the subject made threats to take the security officer's gun. When the first PPD officer arrived, the suspect punched the officer causing only minor injuries. The suspect was detained and arrested for assault on a police officer.

March 6, 2022 at 5:37pm: Pasadena Police officers responded to the area of Lake Ave. and Washington Blvd. regarding a nude female lying in lanes of traffic. Prior to officers arriving at the location, the suspect jumped into the backyard of a nearby residence. Hearing the commotion, the elderly resident opened his backdoor to investigate and the suspect rushed inside the house. Once inside, the suspect grabbed a coffee mug and began assaulting the resident, causing minor injuries. The victim was able to defend himself with his cane and push the suspect out of his house. Officers arrived and detained the suspect as she left the victim’s residence. Pasadena Paramedics responded and treated the victim’s injuries and the suspect was arrested for the assault and narcotics violations.

March 7, 2022 at 1:13am: Pasadena Police Officers on patrol, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple vehicle code violations. Patrol Officers contacted the driver and recognized him as a known Pasadena gang member. The suspect was on active parole and he admitted to having a firearm in his vehicle. The suspect was arrested without incident.

March 9, 2022 at 4:24pm: Pasadena Police Officers were patrolling the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Painter St. due to recent gun violence. Officers attempted to make contact with a subject but he fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspect and while running, a firearm dropped from the subject’s possession. The suspect tried to retrieve the firearm, however he was detained prior to getting hold of the firearm. He was arrested for firearms violations and transported to PPD.

March 10, 2022 at 3:00pm: Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of E. Colorado Blvd regarding a robbery alarm. The suspect entered the bank and provided the teller with a note at which time the teller immediately activated the alarm. The teller refused to provide the suspect with any money and he calmly left the bank, waiting across the street until police arrived. Arriving officers immediately recognized the waiting suspect from the description provided by the bank employee and safely took the suspect into custody.

March 11, 2022 at 6:04pm: Pasadena Police Officers were dispatched to a City park regarding a robbery that occurred hours earlier. The victim was approached by the suspects who were in a vehicle and offered the victim money for food. As the victim got close to the suspect’s vehicle, the passenger suspect forcibly took jewelry from the victim. The suspects fled the area in the vehicle.

March 12, 2022 at 8:01pm: Pasadena Officers were on an unrelated call in the 200 block of E. Orange Grove Bl. when they walked past a vehicle parked along the curb and noticed a handgun on the passenger seat. Officers attempted to contact the driver of the vehicle but he fled on foot when approach by officers. Officers eventually took possession of the unregistered firearm. This investigation is ongoing.

March 18, 2022 at 8:36am: Pasadena Officers responded to the Colorado Street Bridge regarding a possible shooting. The victim was driving east on the bridge when she passed another vehicle. At that moment, the victim heard a 'pop' and then her driver's side window splintered. She eventually pulled over and called the police. The victim did not sustain serious injuries and a projectile hole was found in her window. This investigation is ongoing as suspect information is minimal.

March 19, 2022 at 10:45am: Pasadena Officers observed the driver of a motorized mini-bike in the area of Raymond Ave. and Hammond St. and the rider was in violation of several vehicle code violations. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the mini-bike however the rider did not stop and a slow speed pursuit was initiated. With the assistance of a police helicopter, the mini-bike was followed onto a dirt trail in Altadena where the suspect was located and detained by ground officers. The suspect was arrested for evading.

March 21, 2022 at 4:27pm: Pasadena Officers responded to the 600 block of N. Marengo Ave. in regards to a robbery. The suspects took several of the victim’s items of jewelry after persuading the victim to undergo a "religious blessing" of the jewelry. During the ruse, the suspect removed additional loss from the victim’s purse and fled. The victim did not discover the loss until later.

March 22, 2022 at 5:04pm: Pasadena Offices responded to the area of Colorado Bl. and Los Robles Ave regarding an assault. The suspect was walking by two different victims and with no provocation, punched and struck both victims with a bottle. Officers located the suspect and arrested him for assault with a deadly weapon. Neither victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault.

March 23, 2022 at 3:11am: Pasadena Officers were called to the 300 block of N. Mar Vista Ave. regarding a possible stolen vehicle seen in the area. Officers responding to the location, located a similarly described vehicle in the area of Lake Ave. and Corson St. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled. A pursuit was initiated and after several minutes, the suspect surrendered to officers in the 100 block of S. Meridith Ave. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and arrested for multiple warrants, felony evading, and violation of a court order.

March 23, 2022 at 6:25am: Pasadena Officers responded to the Colorado Street Bridge regarding a check the welfare for a woman on the bridge. When officers arrived, they located a woman standing on the outside of the security fence. With the assistance of the Police Department’s Crisis & Negotiation Team and the Pasadena Fire Department personnel, officers were able to convince the female to get assistance at which time she was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital.

March 25, 2022 at 2:26am: Pasadena Officers responded to the 0 block of N. Arroyo Pkwy. regarding an active fight. Upon the officer’s arrival, multiple victims were located who were suffering from various injuries, likely a result of the fight. During the investigation, it was revealed one victim was accidently struck by a vehicle. Additionally, a victim who had chased after the suspects as they fled, had a firearm pointed at him. All of the suspects managed to leave prior to police arrival. Multiple victims required medical aid at a local hospital and it was determined the assault was likely a hate crime. This investigation is ongoing.

March 27, 2022 at 2:33am: Officers responded to the 2800 block of E. Colorado Bl. regarding a female who called the police claiming she had been stabbed. Officers checked the area but and could not locate the victim. Minutes later, a local hospital reported that a female with a stab wound had arrived at the hospital. The victim’s injuries were not considered to be life threatening and officers were able to locate evidence of where in assault had occurred. Further investigation into this incident is being conducted by Detectives.

March 27, 2022 at 2:01am: Pasadena Officers responded to a disturbance call at a parking structure in the 0 block of E. Green St. Witnesses said a shot was fired. Further investigation revealed that two groups inside the structure were going to engage in a fight when one of the subjects pulled out a handgun and fired one round up into the ceiling. Evidence of the shooting in the structure was recovered. The suspect nor any victims were located and the investigation is ongoing.

March 27, 2022 at 9:32am: Pasadena Officers responded to the 400 block of S. Arroyo Pkwy. regarding an assault. The suspect had been escorted out of the business because he was causing a disturbance. The suspect walked away but returned shortly after and assaulted the victim with a bicycle cable lock. The suspect fled but was located and detained a short time later. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and the victim sustained moderate injuries.

March 27, 2022 at 10:37am: Pasadena Officers responded to the 700 block of Sunset Ave. regarding an assault between family members. The suspect, who recently moved out, returned to the residence and engaged in a verbal argument. During the argument, the suspect removed a firearm and threatened his family member. Fortunately, the suspect walked away before using the firearm and left the residence. The victim immediately called police once the suspect was gone and the suspect was able to evade responding officers.

March 29, 2022 at 5:56pm: Pasadena Officers responded to the 800 block of Wright Ave. regarding a man brandishing a firearm from inside a parked vehicle. When officers arrived, the victim walked away vehicle and the suspect, along with another passenger, drove away. Officers were able to locate and stop the fleeing vehicle and a search was conducted. A loaded ghost gun was recovered from inside the car and further investigation revealed the suspect was a convicted felon. The other passenger was arrested for possession of narcotics as well as interfering with a police investigation.
